Description

What’s included?

This download includes x7 sheets, all portrait orientation, pdf format.

What’s it for?

These Christmas alphabet matching cards are a fun, interactive resource designed to practise and consolidate the x26 initial Christmas-themed sounds. Learners promote independence by matching the initial sound of an image (e.g., 'A' for 'Advent Calendar') to the correct grapheme (letter card).

Who’s it for?

This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as older students needing additional support with learning.

How to use it?

Print the rectangle cards onto A4 card and pre-cut them.

  1. The learner selects an image card and says the word aloud (e.g., "Advent Calendar").
  2. Learners verbally isolate the initial sound of that word (e.g., "a").
  3. Learners find the corresponding grapheme card (the letter 'a') and match the grapheme and picture card together.

The full set of cards can also be used for alphabetical ordering or general independent/supported sorting and matching.
