All of the words included in this resource are the 100 high-frequency words in order from the DfES ‘Letters and Sounds’ Appendix 1.

This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as students needing additional learning support.

What’s it for?

This set of (first) 100 High Frequency Word lists have been designed to be used in various ways - as you choose. Five different versions of the same list of words are included. These can be used as a reference for adults/learners, to check which words learners can read/spell or for any games you devise.

List of 100 high-frequency words in order

As said, x5 versions of the same word list are included. These vary as follows:

• using larger text (size 16 font) without grid lines
• using smaller text (size 12 font) without grid lines
• with grid lines (size 12 font)
• with grid lines (size 12 font) and a blank check box to the left of every word
• using a child-friendly font (Sassoon Infant) with even larger text (size 25 font)
