Description
What’s included?
x4 sheets each sheet with x12 cards to read and match (x48 cards in total). Portrait orientation, pdf format (x4 sets included).
Who’s it for?
Ideal for Early Years (Reception) learning to blend CVC words and Year 1 needing consolidation. Its clear, tactile card-matching format also makes it perfect for learners with additional needs.
What’s it for?
The four sets of CVC word and picture cards included, systematically cover the Phase 2 phonics sounds. The main purpose of the whole set is to help children master the essential skill of blending sounds together to read real words and understand their meaning through a fun, practical matching activity.
How to use it?
Preparation
Print cards onto sturdy card and cut out the four colour-coded sets.
Activity
Learners match the 'word' card to the 'picture' card. While suitable for independent revision, adult support is highly recommended initially. This allows new words (e.g., 'ruck', 'ebb') to be introduced and discussed, effectively expanding vocabulary and challenging context understanding.

Words align with Phase 2 order. Crucially, Sets 1-3 are sound-contained, using only the six sounds per set for focused blending practice. Set 4 covers f, ff, l, ll, ss, incorporating earlier vowels/consonants (b, h, r) for full Phase 2 consolidation. The words included are as follows:
