Resource layout
The word search letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid, featuring easy to read ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font.
The words have been organised into four groups, clearly showing all hidden words below each word search.
Lowercase letters are used throughout to help the words blend in, however a learning note that the months of the year words needs capital letters is included.
Spring words
17 hidden words. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards) and vertically (up as well as down). Words to find are; bluebell, crocus, daffodil, snowdrop, tulip, blossom, bud, seedling, shoot, Easter, equinox, lent, showers, bunny, calf, duckling and gosling.
Summer words
19 hidden words. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards and backwards). Words to find are; bee, butterfly, daisy, rose, beach, bucket, paddle, sandcastle, spade, barbecue, hot, ice cream, picnic, solstice, camp, humid, sand, shell and towel.
Autumn words
16 hidden words. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards) and vertically (up as well as down). Words to find are; acorn, cold, conker, harvest, apple, pie, pumpkin, soup, bonfire, fireworks, Halloween, sparkler, hedgehog, leaves, squirrel and toadstool.
Winter words
23 hidden words. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards and backwards). Words to find are; blanket, candle, cold, cosy, dark, winter, fog, frost, ice, sleet, slush, snow, card, Christmas, gift, solstice, new year, boots, coat, gloves, hat, scarf and sleigh.
Seasons and months of the year
16 hidden words. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards). Words to find are; winter, december, january, february, spring, march, april, may, summer, june, july, august, september, october, november.
Recommendations
When completing the word search, we recommend using a highlighter pen. This keeps all letters visible, as some are used in more than one word. The word search can also be laminated for repeated use.
