What’s it for?

This activity set reinforces the first six sounds of Phase 2 s, a, t, p, i, n. Learners assemble three-part picture puzzles to complete images and form simple, decodable words using only the 's, a, t, p, i, n' graphemes.

Who’s it for?

This resource has been designed for early years learners, pupils in years one as well as students needing additional learning support.

How to use the Picture Puzzles?

Prepare this resource by printing both sheets onto card and cut out following the dotted guidelines. Once this has been done, place pieces of a carpet/table top for learners to investigate and match. Learners assemble the pieces (three per puzzle) to form pictures, then sound out the decodable CVC words which only use the graphemes 's, a, t, p, i, n' .

This activity is ideal for groups to be getting on with independently when these sounds are first introduced as a quieter time activity or for an adult to provide some small group/one to one support revisiting these sounds.
